The coast of Quintana Roo where Playa del Carmen is situated is on the Carribbean Sea. The climate is tropical and rainy periods in September with rainfalls that last an hour in the afternoon then stop. South from Xcaret is Akumal.
Across from Playa del Carmen is Cozumel.
